Case study · Fan-to-fan platform

Fan to Fan

A platform where fans list concert tickets, festival passes, carpools and rooms for other fans, with no commission. Translation, expiry, trends and moderation alerts run by themselves.

The situation

The client wanted one place where fans find tickets, festival passes, carpools and rooms from other fans, at a fair price and with no commission.

With no middleman, trust had to come from the platform: verified profiles, reviews after each deal, reports, and a fast way to remove a bad actor and everything he had posted.

What we built

01

Listings and search

Four categories, a five-step listing form with event autocomplete, search with filters and a date range, sorting by concert date, an artist directory and favourites.

02

Verified profiles

E-mail check, then an optional identity check paid through Stripe that gives a lifetime "verified" badge. Reviews are left after each deal.

03

Messages and deals

Quick predefined messages between fans, deal tracking, unread badges in the header and e-mail notifications for new messages, deals and reviews.

04

Automatic translation

Each new listing is translated into English and French as soon as it is published, so both audiences can read it.

05

Back office

Nine sections: analytics, audience, listings, reports, users, reviews, trends, log and settings. Account and IP bans, CSV export of users, maintenance mode and site banner without a deploy.

06

Self-maintaining data

Every two hours, the trending artists, the artist directory and expired listings are recalculated. A new listing shows up in the trends right away.

What runs on its own now

  • Flagging listings as expired once the event has passed
  • Updating trending artists and the artist directory
  • Translating every new listing
  • Alerting the team on Discord for each new listing and each report
  • Hiding every listing of a suspended seller, and suspending accounts that sign in from a banned IP
  • Granting the identity badge once Stripe confirms payment and check
