The situation

Students revise from messy notes and forget most of it before the exam. Making flashcards by hand takes longer than revising.

The app had to turn a course into revision material in seconds, decide what to review each day and make coming back every day feel like a game.

What we built

01

From notes to flashcards

Import a PDF or a photo of handwritten notes: the app structures it and generates flashcards, quizzes and mind maps.

02

Spaced repetition

Each card comes back on the day it is about to be forgotten, based on the student's own answers.

03

Leagues, friends and badges

Weekly rankings based on XP, an activity feed with friends, badges and arcade mini-games.

04

Voice tutor

Students can call Néo, the app's mascot, and ask questions out loud.

05

Pro subscription and referrals

Pro status and referral codes are written by the server only, after checking purchases with RevenueCat.

06

Web and iPhone

One codebase for the web app and the native iOS app, with a first load cut from 3.5 MB to about 0.4 MB.

What runs on its own now

  • The app picks which cards to review each day, based on the student's local day.
  • A friend who signs up with a referral code is added as a friend automatically.
  • Pro access is granted or removed from the purchase record, without manual checks.
  • Daily usage limits apply on their own: 40 requests a day on the free plan, 250 on Pro.
