The situation
MB Fitness sold its supplements on WooCommerce. The catalogue had to move to Shopify with every flavour, size and pack, inside a storefront built around the brand.
Promotions were a trap. The store-wide MB20 code must never cut the price of a product that is already on sale, and nobody wanted to keep a list of excluded products up to date by hand.
Customers kept asking the same things: which protein for a cut, what to take to gain mass, how to reach a person about an order.
What we built
Headless Shopify store
Custom storefront on Shopify Hydrogen, hosted on Oxygen. Products, collections, packs, customer account, search, blog, sitemap and robots.txt all come from the Shopify catalogue.
Discount engine
A Shopify Function decides line by line what MB20 may reduce. It reads the crossed-out price in the cart, so a product put on sale in the admin is excluded at once, with no list to maintain.
Packs with shared stock
Three packs (Energy, Mass gain, Cut) built with Shopify Bundles. When a pack sells, the stock of each product inside it goes down on its own.
Loyalty points
A signed Shopify webhook on every paid order credits 10 points per euro to the customer account and moves the customer between Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Shop assistant
A chat on the store answers product questions from the live catalogue, suggests products, can give a 10% discount code and hands over the after-sales phone number when a visitor wants a person. A free questionnaire builds a training and meal plan with matching products.
Server-side tracking and newsletter
Meta events leave from the browser and the server, deduplicated. A purchase is only counted from the paid-order webhook. Newsletter sign-ups go to Klaviyo, which sends the welcome code from the brand's own authenticated domain.
What runs on its own now
- Keeping sale items out of the MB20 code
- Crediting loyalty points and updating tiers after each paid order
- Lowering component stock when a pack sells
- Answering first-line product questions and pointing to the after-sales line
- Sending the welcome e-mail with the newsletter code
- Reporting each paid order to Meta from the server
